My laptop downloaded microsofts patch for the animated cursor vulnerability in windows Vista this morning. It told me I needed to reboot the machine for the changes to take effect.
Here's a trip report for Mount Galbraith. I've been playing with some of the Google API's and think I've automated the translation of data from the gps and camera directly to the web. Galbraith is a very easy trail that is decent for warming up to larger items like the 14ers we will be documenting. Make sure to read the full blog posting and not just the summary to see the maps and satellite imagery.
I'm not going to write very much about this particular trail because the main focus has been integrating the different technologies into a seamless platform deliverable by this blog. The general concept is to be able to stop and take a picture that translates into the map below complete with gps coordinates and clickable pictures. It has to be totally automated for when we start doing the 14ers again. I'll upload the raw gps information soon as well.
If you'd like to view this complete with a waypoint selector Click Here. The data file for Google Earth can be downloaded here. The raw images are stored in a Picasa Album and are available at high resolution.
Last night the weather was pleasant and calm. Woke up this morning to a bit of a snowstorm that reminded me I was in Colorado. I had to be a dork and take a picture of my Jeep since it is the first snowfall I've had it in ;P
Heres a step by step tutorial on how to install Drupal 5.1 tailored for a standard LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) setup. The servers I use for hosting have cPanel so these instructions are written to use it.
I had the unfortunate need to pick up a new laptop because my other one took a dive. I needed it to perform business functions and could not find a store that sold a Linux or XP based machine for a reasonable price. I have been attempting to set up a standard php, mySQL, Apache configuration with phpMyAdmin and Eclipse installed. I have been fighting with this operating system for over 14 consecutive hours at this point and completely hate the experience I have gone through. My last hurdle before I went to sleep was getting phpMyAdmin working correctly.
Drupal has a way of making an otherwise intelligent person feel like a complete bumbling idiot. The CSS functions in Drupal 5 are no exception. I became excited when I read the notes on Ted Serbinski's Blog relating to theming in Drupal 5 and the related information contained at Converting 4.7x themes to 5.x .
I made the commitment and moved back to Colorado. After a week long ordeal of packing and driving I made it up here. Any doubts I had about coming back immediately disapeared as I left Kansas and entered Colorado. Kansas is a horid place and each time I drive through it my dislike for it increases. The wind was sufficient to cut my gas mileage almost in half and the exhaustion from trying to stay on the road was intense. Have been able to visit a few of my old friends and everybody is doing great out here. Spent the day snowboarding at Keystone yesterday and am beginning the job se
The United States of America is a country founded on the highest moral principles. Foremost among these principles are the equality of all men, and the unalienable rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. In fact, the founders of this great country placed such a high value on individual freedom, that the very first amendment to the Constitution of the United States is the amendment guaranteeing these individual liberties (Roark A-13). The Fourth Amendment expands upon the liberties set forth in the First Amendment by stating that the government cannot search or seize any person without probable cause (A-13). Throughout American history, however, there have been certain instances in which the American Government has suppressed these individual liberties in direct violation of the First and Fourth Amendments. By analyzing these instances, it becomes apparent that not only does limiting personal liberties hamper beneficial change within the government, but promoting individual liberties including free speech, even if that speech is derogatory in nature, actually strengthens the foundation of the government.
I needed Ubuntu Linux, Nvidia and Wine to be able to fully leave Microsoft Windows and still play World Of Warcraft. I have a bit more than an average setup with 2 GeoForce 7800GTX SLI cards on an Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe powered by a an AMD 64FX processor. I've been playing with different builds of Linux and various methods to get everything working, but nothing has impressed me or been easy until today. Here's an outline of every step taken to install Linux and start playing World of Warcraft. You can direct question to Slammer on the Undermine server ;-)
